🎞 Meet Cute in the Movies
It may have transpired before Kumail Nanjiani got ripped, but The Big Sick (2017) meet cute is a good one.

I’ve heard this story told many times, each time slightly differently. But some details never change; so here they are: My mom was an intern under the head surgeon at a hospital in Mumbai, India. One morning, she was running late and caught up with the rest of the residents, on their morning rounds. Instead of quizzing her on the most recent patient, the head surgeon stopped talking and looked straight at her, “Are you looking to get married?” Embarrassed in front of everyone, my mom nodded slowly and said, “Let me get back to you”. He said, “My nephew is here from America and looking. Come have coffee at my place in the evening”. My mom subtly deflected in the moment, but later agreed. It was love at first sight. The next day, another hour-long coffee turned into a 7-hour date; they talked about traveling and living a different and adventurous life in America. My mom was all in. And one day later, on her birthday, a bouquet of 50 red roses appeared at her parent’s house with a note: “I’d like to marry you.” The rest was history. Very smooth, Dad.
