This year Meet Cute is celebrating Halloween by publishing eight original spooky rom-coms! Each of the stories in our Spooky Sweethearts collection is a little bit creepy, a little bit silly, and a lot romantic.
From a haunted house that kidnaps a crew of paranormal hunters, to a VHS tape cursed by a teenage demon, there’s something for everyone’s desired fear-level. But don’t worry; these are still rom-coms at their core! Everyone gets a happily-ever-after, even the creepy crawlies.
Here’s our first batch…

What inspired your Meet Cute, Get a Clue?
For my mother’s 65th birthday, we attended a murder mystery dinner theatre. It was bonkers. I wondered what would happen if this outrageous event was someone's first date. How could you ask for someone’s number when you were trying to solve a fake murder mystery? That’s how the story idea for Get a Clue was born. I wrote down the idea in my notebook on the way home.
What was it like to write a rom-com for audio that couldn't be more than 15 minutes long?
It was tough at first. My first drafts tend to have everything but the kitchen sink thrown into them. The 15 minute format forced me to slow down and focus on the dialogue.
What’s your favorite rom-com?
I have to pick The Holiday. I absolutely love that film no matter the time of the year. The entire film is like a sugar cookie. I currently have ready to watch on my Amazon Prime watchlist.
